Statins Associated with Lower Cancer Recurrence Following Prostatectomy

Nanoparticle-Induced Vascular Blockade in Human Prostate Cancer
Previous results show that CREKA-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide particles can cause additional clotting in tumor vessels, which creates more binding sites for the peptide. Researchers have used this self-amplifying homing system to develop theranostic nanoparticles that simultaneously serve as an imaging agent and inhibit tumor growth by obstructing tumor circulation through blood clotting. Epigenetic Regulation of Vitamin D 24-Hydroxylase/CYP24A1 in Human Prostate Cancer

Nrdp1-Mediated Regulation of ErbB3 Expression by the Androgen Receptor in Androgen-Dependent but not Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cells
Here, researchers show that androgen withdrawal (AW) can promote castration-resistant prostate cancer development by increasing the levels of the receptor tyrosine kinase ErbB3 in androgen-dependent prostate cancer, resulting in AW-resistant cell cycle progression and increased androgen receptor transcriptional activity. STAMP1 Is Both a Proliferative and an Antiapoptotic Factor in Prostate Cancer
Here, researchers find that ectopic expression of STAMP1 significantly increased proliferation of DU145 prostate cancer cells as well as COS-7 cells in vitro; conversely, small interfering RNA-mediated knockdown of STAMP1 expression in LNCaP cells inhibited cell growth and, at least partially, induced cell cycle arrest. AT-101 (R-(-)-Gossypol Acetic Acid) Enhances the Effectiveness of Androgen Deprivation Therapy in the VCaP Prostate Cancer Model
